Breast Cancer is the commonest and deadliest complex disease that afflicts Singaporean women. Based on the Singapore Cancer Registry 50th Anniversary Monograph, 1 in 13 women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime.
Early detection and treatment are still one of the best way to fight the disease, with better treatment outcomes. It is important to be aware that cancer can happen to us. In fact, many of us would personally know of someone who is a cancer survivor or battling the disease.
For women aged 20 and above, you are recommended to do a monthly breast self- examination.
For women aged 40 and above, you recommended to go for mammogram screening, which is currently the most reliable screening tool for breast cancer.
In October, we are donating 15% of all sales of Lip Cosmetics (lipsticks, lipglazes, lip glosses…think all things pink and shades in between!) to the Women VS Cancer campaign. The campaign was launched by the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) to raise awareness and funds for patient care programmes and vital cancer research into women-related cancers. You may learn more about the campaign fundraising at https://www.giving.sg/nccs-cancer-fund/wvcbr2020
Don’t forget to spread the word and help your friends to be aware of the risks and to go for testing if needed.
